Unemployment a reason for lack of Opportunity or Lack of Skills in Nepal

.. Let me close with another case where some years back, even google asked for the vacancy for some IT professionals and enlisted that degree was not mandatory for them so they were more concern with the approach .....

".... imagine a graduate who do not have experience and skill ..."

Let me commence with an interesting case that I encounter some years back in my office, our HR was working hard to recruit some cyber security experts for the office and the vacancy was forwarded with very handsome remuneration and many forwarded their resume for the same, but very limited person whom we thought were good to handle the job description were shortlisted for the interview and the person our team preferred to join among them asked us more stipend than we were about to offer. The selected candidate was having basic qualification but knowledge was intense and we couldn’t retain that candidate because the stipend the candidate was expecting was about two times higher and was not negotiating. The very next day, when I was on my way to the morning walk, I saw one family who were busy arranging their son’s luggage to the taxi as he had a flight to some European country to catch and their family were very emotional and with a curiosity I asked them is he flying for his further studies and his father told me that yes, he is an IT Engineer and there is no much opportunities here in Nepal so in search of better opportunities he is going to some dream country and their emotional moment made me emotional as well. Then, I recalled the moment where, we couldn’t hire some IT guy and upon returning to my office I asked my HR, why so many people got rejected when we had ample manpower in our country for the job. Then, I realize that there were many people who had applied but due to lack of specialization and lack of knowledge in the particular subject, we couldn’t hire the person and there was limited person with specialized skills and their demand were intense in the market so hiring them would be difficult as they are highly paid in other companies.
When I encounter this case, I even talked with many of my friends who were entrepreneurs and they all had a same voice that we are in lack of skilled manpower in the market and they are ready to pay very good stipend for them and to my amusement I found many such experts who are being paid very good remuneration in Nepal itself. I think this is what our country is really struggling with, its not the manpower that we lack but it’s the skill in them that they lack. Every organization want professional person whom they can trust and in the same time they do not have to invest much time tracking their performance. The target is what every candidate is being provided in the organization, every candidate is expected to perform their pre assigned targets and if the targets are done, organization is more than happy with it. If someone can add professional structure to it and can bring innovative approach to it, it would be wonderful for the organization and many organizations are tracking those gems to hire in their organization. Today, if you have skills you can get job from your home, many job seekers platform are craving for the performer and they are going to negotiate for any sum.
Now is the time that we need to direct our offspring for this, I think degree solely is not enough to get alive in this competitive world, if you can acquire skills with it, I think that would be the best thing for your offspring. The Bridge course we do in between the SEE and plus two, Plus two and Bachelors helps to ease our process for getting enrolled to that degree and facilitate for further studies. In the same way, if we can develop the bridge skill enhancement course during our bachelor than that skills can help the students tremendously to excel in their career and confusion about what need to be done after the graduation would be resolved. If every college, university would drag their attention for this and create special course in which they research about what actually the market is seeking for and provide hands on training before their graduation, I think this idea would help to boost our market tremendously and this also would help the brain drain in our country.
Today, as I see from the market, I feel that lack of opportunity is not the case that we are struggling with, its lack of direction and proper guidance of the market is what we are lacking behind. Mandatory course for skill enhancement as per the subject need to be established and every student need to be informed well about what market is really looking forward for and they need to be given range of subjects where they can carry forward and excel to become ready for the market. For this government, colleges, parents and even student themselves need to be informed and take concrete steps before they drag themselves in confusion.
If government can collect data from each company in Nepal about how many employees they are accompanying and what are the natures of work they do, what skilled manpower they are looking forward for and if such data can be collected than I think it would be accessible for colleges and parents to conform what skills their offspring need to be equipped with and make a advance workout for the same. Just imagine a graduate who do not have experience and skill become frustrated when seeking for the job and job givers are frustrated of not getting the qualified person for their work. I think this is the point that need to be worked out and we can forward the solid solution accordingly. I am confident that our graduates are equipped with determination and energy and one skill can turn their energy to something unexpected and something innovative. For instance, an engineer who is freshly graduated in civil engineering do not have much idea about the current Building codes, municipal directives and do not have the idea for designing and analyzing, such person would face lots of trouble for any job. Sales graduates if do not have skill to present the ideas, handle the pressure and negotiate to clients, Business graduates if do not have skills to finalize their product and present to the market, Journalist graduate if do not have skill to proofreading and writing at least minimum piece of article or present the case effectively etc such skills need to be enhanced in every graduate before sending them to the market and parents, colleges and individual need to be more concern for this. I think this can turn the faith of our country if we consider this thing seriously.

Let me close with another case where some years back, even google asked for the vacancy for some IT professionals and enlisted that degree was not mandatory for them so they were more concern with the approach you have and in depth knowledge you have about the subject so before pouring our huge asset just in the name of degree, I think we need to change our behavior and make those college and universities to be responsible to generate the skilled graduated than just the graduates with certificate but no skills so Government also need to take step in it and should bound all the institution with some solid Code and Bye laws...
