Improvised Course and its Importance in this Tech Era for Educational Revolution
. Reputed institution like MIT, Harvard, Cambridge have focused around 70% for case studies, 20% for Projects, 5% for Lectures and 5% for Learning, the need of practical education is being realized by these institutions so every institution needs to realize it before it’s too late..
I do see a great deal of curiosity among today’s parents about their offspring’s future, education in today’s era has become one of the most concerned sectors where parents do not compromise at any cost for their offspring. Whatever be the economic condition of the people, they want their kids to be the best and acquire the best education that can bring to the bright future. I can state with the small example as I encountered during my working zone around 7 years back, working in construction sector exposed me in tremendous circumstance. Networking with many people of various designation was its beauty so, it’s a story of a mason who did not compromise for their offspring education. During the construction activities, one mason had injury in his hand so he was taken to the hospital for the treatment and was provided basic medicine. He was asked to take rest for some days so I request supervisor to make him rest for some days and make an alternative plan for some interval for the particular task. The very next day when I went to the site for collecting some documents, I saw the same guy working so I asked him why are you not taking the rest? His answer made me think twice, he said he has a son and the couple was working hard for him, he said if I rest for 2 more days, I would be unable to pay his fee, he said my whole money goes to his fee and my wife’s money goes for handling our monthly expenses. I was amused, how much does it cost for your son for a month, he said it cost around 15 thousand for a month. He was studying in a good school in grade 6 and I could sense the vision that he has, his vision was to make him very educated. It’s been more than 7 years and I have never met him afterward but still his words hit me again and again and makes me realize that parents are really serious about their children’s education and future so they are ready to pay any for the service. Now, the question evolves “Are the schools, colleges and universities are serious about the trends they are adopting and would it be enough for asserting the minimum benchmark of quality education”. I do not think so because the system of education is same as we used to have and I can assert it without any doubt that this kind of education in today’s tech era is not going to push students far.
So, what really any institution need to come up with to bring the quality education to play, I think they need to adopt the advance teaching methodology where they need to teach students not just to learn, get marks, get success but they also need to teach students to try, fail, debounce and practical based approach which the students can use for lifetime. Normal syllabus can be a compulsory based syllabus but more addons for student need to be integrated which can help them in practical life, which can help them tremendously in day to day life need to be incorporated by the institution. The addon syllabus like Finance management in practical life, Life time saving approach, saving and astute investment and basic of investments, basic of communication in practical life, basic of stress management, Basic of networking skills in practical life, anger management and its important, Basic etiquette and many more such life time experience syllabus need to be integrated by the institution. Teaching this life time experiencing syllabus need to be handled carefully, if we commence such class and start to provide theory of it and person who haven’t experience such commence to teach makes no difference of implementing such syllabus so MOU’s with tremendous professional persons and industries can be the best ways to implement it in real life. I think institution need to think in a way, it’s their genuine investment and would get real return in short span where their graduates start to speak about the opportunities they get.
Even reputed institution has commenced to implement the new methodology in which more concern is given to case studies and projects. In many cases, I have heard about the life changing teachers, there are limited teachers who helps to change your ways of thinking and direct you for the prosperous life ahead to whom you would never forget in your life and would be thankful to them, in the same way if institution commence to have far vision and implementation approach than I think making this things practical in not a way run. Teaching is one of the reputed and most renowned job in the developed countries where experts having tremendous experience would choose the teaching job whereas in developing countries more than 80% are such who are not much experience in their field. If teacher do not have practical experience than how would teaching students would be aware about the vision they need to adopt, approach they need to set and challenges they need to be prepared for real problem in real professional life. I do get involve in number of interviews for hiring employee and the lapse that I can sense in the new emerging Professionals is they are not well equipped with even basic tools for the job, they are unable to scale themselves, they are least bothered about the hinder and SWOT about their next approach. I had a chance of interviewing for hiring employee of one of the reputed company in Singapore and there I learned that priorities are given to the freshers, because the panel have a vision that they are real problem solver and they are fresh and enthusiastic but for that you need to equipped yourself with basic tools. A software engineer applying for mobile app developer does not know the basic of it, in that case it would be very challenging for the job provider to trust him when he is not able to track the basic approach to deal with it.
Industry have a clear vision, they are not there to teach the employee, you are being paid for what you are going to contribute for the industry and they do not have time for such basic trainings so you need to equipped it before that and the best place to do it is your institution where you are paying just to learn, just to do the mistake, just to raise your confidence, just to be astute and moreover just to improvise your character. When you get out of it, you are in the next phase of your life where you are being paid so you do not have much prevailed as in institution so making yourself a fast learner and smartness is the best tool to make yourself well equipped. Even reputed companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft are least bothered about your qualification but they are concern with your abilities, proficiency, skills and character so many have no compulsion rule for qualification. It means if you have skills, ability, proficiency and character, you do not need any degree to get job in this reputed institution so we can make a conclusion about what industries are looking for in today’s era. If institution can pay positive role in it and they built that bridge between the students and enhance their caliber than crossing the bridge and getting in professional life is not a tough job but if you have just a degree and confused mind, you might not be lucky to land in the real job where you can excel in real life. This is the main problem for such unemployment scale in developing countries so this situation can be solved if institution get serious about their approach.
All in all, my vision is to see the institution in Nepal where kids get confidence and have real character to work for the real problem and manage their time and plan with concrete vision, this every schools need to inject to students, Secondary schools and colleges need to be the place to explore, place where you must know who you are and what you can do and make the wise decision for further approach. Universities need to be the place where you learn the basic skills, practice professional approach, intern for that approach and be well connected with the real upcoming problems and ways to solve it. Every education institution need to adopt demonstration teaching approach, Focus in case studies based education, handle real projects for problem solving, influence students for entrepreneurship approach, astute infrastructure, every faculties need to be boosted, encouraged for building such curriculum, Recognition and felicitation approach for such faculties need to be built, Tie up and regular counselling for students with real professionals in the field need to be adopted, tie ups with industries and brainstorming with them for better understanding their future expectation and mapping of those skills required and imposing its training to students and regular in curriculum is the most. If this happens in real, I do not think we are far away for having a prosperous life and parents would be proud for their children’s vision, children would be thankful for their institution’s effort and their faculties expertise and taking a prosperous life would not be limited within a limited people’s domain. This helps to excel in the development of the nation and for the bright future of the country so what educational institution is doing right now has direct impact for the future generation so every educational institution need to be real serious about it, get professional person in board who have vision and to do attitude for their students. Regular brainstorming sessions with the experts from industries, their needs and the basic skills that they need, everything need to be mapped and curriculum need to be updated each year and only then the real revolution can occur in education else education would be limited as a best profitable business where certain people earn a lot from it and that money would not push them long enough because from this pandemic we have realized that money alone cannot do anything because one day we all have to die….
