Being Teacher and understanding your power for transformation

Recently I was in a public function where we were gathered by the local governance for contributing our concern and expertise for the municipal enhancement. After, I vow my concern and provided some constructive suggestion about the pattern of development that we need to take care of and long term and short-term strategies that municipal need to adopt to bring a solid system for development. Prompt after my time a man who was in his mid-60s came near to me and asked me if I recognize him, this happens time and again and I can’t relate many, in the same way I couldn’t recognize him at any cost so I apologized him and asked him to recall me where have I met him, he expressed his satisfaction for meeting me and said I felt proud for your work and vision and I feel lucky that you were also one of my student in collage. I was confused and my neurons in the brain start to pump up rapidly to identify the source so that I could relate him but unfortunately, I couldn’t remember and that made me sad so I reflect to make him realize that I remembered him and in my return to home, I felt timid, I was murmuring “what kind of student I am where I couldn’t identify my teacher who taught me whereas he recognized me”. Being part time lecturer myself this incident triggered me and I realized that not every teacher is remembered by students so every teacher needs to provide good expose to the student so that student remember them for ever and this also add up one more step of challenge to my vision. After the incident I also recalled the teachers from schools, colleges and university, I could remember very limited teachers and those were the one who changed my way of thinking and doing. It was just the countable number in my figure, with some I am in regular intact whereas for some I always remember them and thank them for packing me with character, confidence and competence which has helped me to enhance my life.
So, today I am forwarding this piece not just to wish every teacher “Happy teachers’ day” but also to shake them to realize, what importance do they have in student’s life. I couldn’t relate to others perception but for me limited teachers have changed the way of thinking. Recalling my school’s days, there were many teachers who used to appreciate me and influence me for good approach, there were some teachers who provided the gel to take myself forward for sustainable approach and their good words, their inspiring words are still my inspiration to take up my work. They might be a simple person but still their legacy is a huge thing for me and even to my pals and children I share my school, college and university experience and that makes me so proud. So, being teacher just to teach is not going to be remembered forever, in order to make your presence in positive way, you always need to transform yourself, just teaching the book’s word is not limited but to inspire them, to provide them the confidence and to transform them is what you need to be packed up with. Teachers are someone who have the highest responsibility of all and I always call a teacher the second mother for any student, how hard and precisely the mother take care of her offspring in the same way teacher have the same level of responsibility to take care of. I think todays teacher or any teacher need to be dynamic, the change maker, Innovator, Patience, perseverance, best mentor and friend to shape the dynamic future of the students. Today’s students are hungry for best teachers who can inspire them, can relate them with their real life, can influence them for good approach, can handle their emotions and failure, can inspire them to lead and be the leader, I can assert you that your one word can influence them forever. I still remember my inspiring school sir Ail sir saying me when I was in class 4, that “Pragyan you are very smart, you can do it, always take a word that its you who push yourself to success or failure, I have faith on you and you can do it, no one is perfect, everything takes time and that time need to be respected so your real competitor is you yourself, go ahead”. Whenever I get scared of any situation I do recall his words, its been more than two decade that I haven’t met him and I don’t know where he is but still he is my inspiration and there are couple of such faculties who have inspired me a lot and whenever I have a brainstorming session with my pals about how teachers need to be, we always have some inspiring teachers talk who changed our way of thinking so I always acknowledge the fact that being teacher is not a small thing and you always need to take that pressure in your mind. Your one word of inspiration can change their life and your one word of depression can make them low.
Now, let me recall one of the Nepali teacher in my school days, she never used to appreciate me for my deeds, she used to say that I am very weak in Nepali, one day when our parents meeting was going on and I was in class 8 or so, my father encounter all my teachers getting my progress feedback, I was endorsed by math, science teacher and they just bombarded many good deeds, this things dragged that Nepali teacher in great dilemma so she said, I didn’t know he is such a good student in other subject but in Nepali he is weak and I though he is worst in other subjects but this feedback made me amused. Still today I have hesitation to deal with Nepali written language as I think in a way that my nepali is not so good so, one word gone influence forever so I request every teacher to be responsible and inspire the good students but you need to praise and inspire more to the weak student so that they do not carry over those things for their future and do not be the reason for their failure. Your word has a strong power and your caring nature have a strong vibe to convert them positively for the future. So, I always ensure to respect my students, respect their expectation and influence to achieve it in spite of its insurmountable reflection, care for them, love them for what they are and believe in them that they can change themselves, try to be a mediator to direct them in a right direction and try to be the positive influencer for their life.
I think every teacher need to transform their way of teaching, learning, respecting and mentoring so that they can bring positive influence to the student’s mind. Every students are hungry for the good teachers and I can assure you that irrespective of what class you teach i.e primary or secondary or any, your power is enormous as your inspiring word or approach can change any students life so always try to enhance yourself so that you can be the reason for change. Innovative way of teaching, inspiring, mentoring and motivating need to be implanted by each teacher to transform themselves and to transform the future of the country.
