Criteria for selecting the right candidate for the election

 Selecting the right candidate and making the decision for casting the vote is one of the most difficult decisions during the election. Every candidate comes up with lots of words and strong determination and that confused many about choosing the right one. I think right candidate for the place can be coined when he/she posses some of the basic thing and that every voter need to measure before casting their precious vote because it’s a one-time opportunity in many years where right person need to be elected else the situation can turn harsh after the victory of the wrong candidate. Many of my friends ask me how you select the right person, many of the candidates in my areas during the election visited our area during the campaign and even some were my near relatives who were expecting my direct vote to them just because they were my relatives. My screening method was different and I found it very interesting and effective to find the right person. I asked them to give response to some of my queries and the one who came out as outstanding got my vote and to be very frank enough even my relatives didn’t get through my screening and I think every Nepalis need to adopt some screening technique. Its not mandatory to choose my ways but you can use yours and make one and cast the vote to the perfect person. Now let me share my experience and technique in more detail.
The first criteria were to talk to the candidates and in the process, I encounter that some were so busy that they came with just pamphlets and handed me the one and said everything is there so you can go through it so I screened that and couldn’t find many of my queries so I decided not to give my vote to them. During my screening, the first thing that I tried to see is their character. I think character is the foremost thing that we need to see in our leaders, if our leader does not have a time for you and your society during campaign itself how can they bring their time after campaign in your society, how can they feel the difficulties in your society. For me determining their character was by posing some questions to them, like why are you into this process and what have you done so far and what change can I expect in short team, mid term and long-term basis in my area after electing you, what are your concrete algorithm for the same.
If any leaders can give the clear answer to your queries within short span than I can understand that the fire within him/her is intense and this candidate can bring something to the table. My second criteria would be their education. I think basic education of at least of undergraduate is needed to understand the case and formulate the plans and forward it effectively. If you see most colleges and universities of Nepal, in a class we can see the people more than its capacity, it can have effect in student faculty ratio, infrastructure accessing capacity, lab capacity, research capacity and many more which can have direct impact in the quality of education so the one who have gone through the process can understand the real pain only can understand the problem and can initiate for some solution, if our leaders can’t understand what transformation can education bring to the society , how can we expect them to bring positive change to the society so minimum education is must to understand the basic in upcoming days so this education criteria plays vital role. In the same way, a minimum of two years of experience in any field is other criteria for me, its because, minimum experience would add up many qualities to the person, it can make them aware about the nature of organization, nature of people working in it, important of work distribution, important of team work and important of hard work of every individual to push the organization to next level. Important of target, appraisal and overall return of hard work at the end of the month or year, happiness of getting paid off and Such experience shall enrich person with some level of maturity and that experience is must in our leaders who can understand the algorithm of how country can take off to next level and what is the important of departments, Expertise and team work to bring prosperity in the country.
The third criteria for me would be their priority and their algorithm to handle it, their alternatives to avoid any ambiguity and such is very important. If any candidate does not have the priority than how can they initiate the seed of development and contribute change in the society. The approach they have in their head can bring a lot. Other criteria would be how optimistic they are and how visionary they are. Giving credit to our father and mother is the most irrespective of how worst your experience might be with them because they were your creator, respecting the past, realizing the present and enlightening the future is what we are expecting from the leaders. If any leaders keep on beguiling the past and do not realize what need to be done at the moment and can’t bring smart horizon for the future than selecting such leaders can ruin the county’s fate. I think leaders need to be the man of approach rather than the man of words. If you lead the society with you work and people acknowledge with your work more than word that county can prosper in many ways.
I vow to all that do not get trapped with the words rather take the decision from your brain and select the right person for the right place. Voting is the power and use your power with determination, research and with proudness. If we commence to adopt such practice than it can help to crave the prosperity of our country in many ways. How you can identify that the candidate is the worst among all, if the candidate do not have clear vision, clear convening power, do not possess good character, always complains about other works and do not give credit at all to anyone, have no vision and solution to any task, have no any prior experience, no prior education background and most importantly do not understand that expertise need to be encompassed for forming strong team to make the solid foundation, solid decision and solid improvements.

If you can give your attention to these parameters and select the person, I think you would not feel reluctant later on. You need to have a clear concept that country’s change is only possible when you change yourself. Thinking that my one vote doesn’t count and can’t make the people success, it doesn’t matter, it’s not compulsory that the one you voted would get the victory but initiating such practice can bring a strong wave so changing yourself is important before expecting others to change and bring awareness among people and be that change maker.
